Lisencing & Supervision
My current license status is that I am a Registered Intern (R6317) with the state of Oregon, which means that I have successfully completed the studies and practice required for me to see clients on my own with regular supervision until I accumulate enough hours (2400) to be fully licensed.
My supervisor is Nathan Hawkins at Life Encounter Counseling.
An exam is required as part of licensure; I will be studying for that and taking the exam in 2021.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in Social and Behavioral Studies from George Fox University, and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from George Fox University. Major course work includes Principles and Techniques of Counseling, Psychopathology, Interpersonal Neurobiology of Trauma, Personality and Counseling Theory, Group Theory and Therapy, Play Therapy, Filial Therapy, Survivors of Sexual Abuse, Advanced Clinical Skills, and Grief and Loss Across the Lifespan.
I seek additional training and education to increase my ability to help clients. For instance, I have received additional training in Art Therapy for trauma, Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, which is especially helpful for those with PTSD, and I have experience and training to work with individuals with a history of sexual trauma and/or pregnancy losses (miscarriage or abortion).
I am happy to answer any questions you may have about this information.
